What's wrong with being a "core gamer"? I've been one all my life!

I really, really hope that's the player character.

No really, I'd love to play the insane despot here. Why not? Far Cry is all about big crazy fun these days, and it's fun being bad.

EDIT: Ugh, was replying to Speak_Da_Truth.

Heh, approve of that logic 100%. Competition keeps companies honest and keeps quality sky-high. Bought an Xbox One for the launch titles and enjoying it thoroughly, but a PS4 is going to be under my tree at Christmas so long as E3 is as awesome as I expect.

Aye, the proof is in the pudding. But either way, it's great to see someone who's always prioritised *games* first and foremost now in charge of the direction of the entire division.

Couldn't hurt, especially after Mattrick crippled the Xbox brand almost beyond recognition.

Prepare for disagrees. But not from me (as per my comment above!).

Whoa, physically simulated cloth! o_O

Can we have a half-decent *story* this time, please? Loved Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain, but Beyond was utter cack in my opinion.

Graphics can be great, but when your plot and characters aren't worth a damn (until the last few minutes), they don't mean anything at all.

Pull the other one.

Seriously, I can see the logic in the decision even though my Kinect sensor might has just become a useless paperweight (cool voice commands aside), but don't dress it up.

Competition keeps companies honest - it works both ways, but it WORKS. Good to see Phil Spencer cleaning house now Mattrick has gone - they're probably still scraping slime off the walls.

Aye, agreed Applejack. Saying that "other games have microtransactions so it's okay in this game too" won't get us anywhere! You can use that logic to defend any number of genuinely horrible games too - the whole thing needs to stop unless it's well-implemented F2P/some small cosmetic extras.

I usually agree (performance > raw graphics), but devs can do clever things to make 30FPS appear smoother/just make it look extraordinarily pretty. I daresay Evolution are all over it.

However, comparing it to last-gen games and saying "see, it's okay" is kinda lazy - we should be demanding the BEST for our money from all our devs!

Erm... no, sorry. Even the almighty 3DS is having more trouble than Nintendo predicted, and it's an absolutely superb handheld with clear pedigree. MS would be annihilated.

Microsoft are already producing Windows 8 phones, Surface Tabs and actively encouraging third party devices too. This is the way to go - what they need to do now is massively accelerate the amount of exclusive mobile games and apps they put out, including tie-ins etc.

Nice. This looks like a great fit for VR - much better than trying to crush a traditional FPS or somesuch onto Rift.

Mind you, it's damaging and inaccurate to think of this as a "price cut." Kickstarter is *NOT* a shop, it's more like a charity crossed with a casino - the point is that you're taking a gamble on an idea that you'd love to see made, NOT placing a pre-order. People misunderstanding the core concept and treating KS as some sort of online...

Just buy them, MS. They wanted you to buy them back in the day, you didn't, and now it's pretty clear they're up for it again.

Buy them, use their expertise to make first party games look prettier, but then get them BETTER WRITERS. Secure CryEngine as an Xbone-optimised platform, then white label the **** out of it on ID@Xbox. Everybody wins, sort of.

But MS won't do that, will they? Because opportunities like this -- including SEGA, BioWare a...

Apologies if posted before, but you really, REALLY CAN see the difference between 30 and 60 FPS.

http://boallen.com/fps-comp...

It's much easier to tell than resolution, and makes a serious impact on gameplay depending on the genre.

However, devs can get around 30FPS in clever ways, such as we saw in DMC, and it absolutely doesn't have to be a dealbreaker. Personally, thou...

In the timeframe, yes. Devs are usually given an insanely accelerated timetable to follow and ridiculous targets to hit, with quality control not any sort of concern.

As some say above, tie-ins can be great when they're NOT hurried out to coincide with a film, rather they're worked on well after the fact. Goldeneye, Riddick, South Park: TSOT etc say 'hi.'

Agreed. Money. Spend some money.

Personally I couldn't care less - I'm a JRPG and niche gaming fan who has already got his money's worth from the Vita and then some. But it definitely needs star power.

Seems Insomniac learned their lesson from Fuse. We WANT colourful, vibrant, crazy and new. Not grey reprocessed sludge.

It's the pre-E3 lull, so... no? Daresay there'll be a few leaks though.

I genuinely wonder if, one day, more kids will know what a Creeper is than who Mario is.

4295d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I used to staunchly defend keeping Kinect in the bundle - I love its voice commands/face recognition and detaching it from the console will effectively kill the peripheral stone dead. As it stands, developers know that there's a big install base and can create cool stuff for it...

... except, erm, where is that stuff? Rivals was mediocre, the Ubi fighting game was godawful and otherwise its gaming applications are gimmicky if not downright silly.

Give it ...
